How long does the printing take?
Timing depends on the size and complexity of the design. Smaller murals can often be completed within a few hours, while larger or more detailed designs take longer. In most cases a design will be completed in a single day. We’ll give you an estimated timeline before your project begins.
What surfaces can you print on?
We can print on most vertical surfaces, including plaster, painted surfaces, brick, wood, concrete, tiles, glass, stone, canvas, wallpaper, and more… We can also print on textured surfaces with a depth variance of up to 10mm. Many other items can be mounted vertically for printing (such as desktops or floor tiles, etc) and then oriented as you wish afterwards.
We are always experimenting, challenging the limits and finding new possibilities!
How much does wall printing cost?
Costs are typically based on, total printed surface area, design complexity and resolution. We provide personalised quotes for every project, so you only pay for what you need. Contact us with your wall dimensions and design idea for an exact price applies. We include a site survey, design consultation, visualisation, basic surface prep, and all materials in our base pricing. Additional fees may apply for special, more complex projects.
Are the prints durable?
Yes – We use UV-cured inks that are highly durable, water, scratch and fade-resistant and are easy to clean with standard cleaning products. With proper care, your wall print can last 12 years+ indoors. For outdoor projects, there are many environmental variables that can affect the life, but we expect at least 2 years and typically 5 years. For exterior prints we suggest applying a protective coating for extra longevity.
Can I remove or replace the wall print later?
Yes – Prints on painted walls can usually be painted over or covered with new artwork. Certain surfaces like glass or tiles can use scraping tools if needed. Concrete or wood can be sanded, blasted or via a chemical process. We’ll explain the best removal options based on your surface type.
Do I need to prepare my wall before printing?
For best results, walls should be clean, dry and free from loose paint or material. We’ll let you know if your wall needs extra preparation such as filling cracks, sanding or priming after our site survey is complete. If there are obstructions like plugs or switches, they can be printed around or temporarily removed for printing (This is the recommended approach and will need to be done by the client due to safety and insurance considerations). Any oil, grease or paint colour variation can affect the colours and could be visible in the print. We can mitigate the risk by cleaning or pre-painting the surface, however our WallPen is upgraded to include white ink and has the capability to print a white undercoat as it prints your image, this does use additional ink and can double the print time, however the colours and results are more reliable and we will usually print in this way unless specifically requested otherwise.
Do I need to provide an image?
- We are very happy to work with an existing image and can use our specialist tools to upscale or enhance if required.
- We can also take high-definition scans of photos or documents you may want to use
- Some of the best results have been through collaborations with artists or marketing agencies, so we are always very happy to work with your partners to get the very best results for you.
- No image, no problem. Our design team can help to develop and refine your concept or even create a completely custom design for your space.
Additional fees will apply to some of these options, but we will work with you to ensure you have full visibility to any costs at every step.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 4 weeks ahead for scheduling and design preparation, especially for larger projects, however we may be able to accommodate more urgent requests at short notice.
What size can you print?
We can print up to 4M tall, there is no practical limit to width.
Contact us to discuss how we can achieve larger prints. We can also print on curved walls.
Are there any limitations?
The surface needs to be vertical or vertically mounted; we cannot print on inclined surfaces.
We cannot print edge to edge. We need a 30cm border from the floor and ceiling, and 10cm either side on internal corners. We need 90cm of space in front of the wall for the printer and track to run on. With clever design and effects, these limits are not be a problem, we can achieve fantastic seamless results through clever designs.
